But they were still looking for the red heifer as they almost went extinct. The red heifers were sacrificed as a cleansing ritual for individual who became unclean, perhaps by touching dead bodies. (Numbers 19). This allows them to participate in the worship. If they have found the red heifer, then nothing can hold them back from building the temple. Except that the temple site is overlapping the Dome of the Rock, the second most holy place for Islam. In 1967, when they won East Jerusalem in the 6-day war, they signed an agreement that while Jews can go up to the mount, but they cannot worship there, in order to preserve peace with the Arab Muslims.
