The Red Heifer
The Red Heifer

I read a few years ago that they have prepared all the furniture and utensil for the temple. But they were still looking for the red heifer as they almost went extinct. The red heifers were sacrificed as a cleansing ritual for individual who became unclean, perhaps by touching dead bodies. (Numbers 19). This allows them to participate in the worship. If they have found the red heifer, then nothing can hold them back from building the temple.
Except that the temple site is overlapping the Dome of the Rock, the second most holy place for Islam. In 1967, when they won East Jerusalem in the 6-day war, they signed an agreement that while Jews can go up to the mount, but they cannot worship there, in order to preserve peace with the Arab Muslims.
In future, there will be a peace treaty arranged by the anti-christ (a human) between Israel and the Palestinians and Arab nations. This signals the start of the 7 year tribulation. I believe at that time, some of the orthodox Jews may rebel against that treaty and start worshipping at the mount.
They don’t need to build the temple to sacrifice and worship. They only need to build the altar, as what the Jews had done when they returned to Jerusalem from Babylon (Ezra 3), which took them only a few days. (The 2nd temple took 2 years for them to build, which is not possible in today’s circumstances.)
This obviously infuriate the anti-christ, and he will fight against the “rebels” and will stop the sacrifice and desolate the altar (perhaps by sacrificing a pig or put his statue there) (Daniel 9:27). This will happen 3.5 years from the peace treaty agreement.
Thereafter, God will pour out his wrath against the anti-christ and his followers. Jesus Christ will return again after another 3.5 years to save Israel and defeat the anti-christ and his army.
This is my personal interpretation of Daniel and Revelation, and the current situation.
