When Will The Rapture Happen?
When Will The Rapture of The Church Happen?
Collin Leong. August 15, 2025
A. Summary
This is a shortened update from my previous blog about the rapture. I have removed other sections and did this new summary so that it is easier for you to read. Section B are details explanation with the verses and calculations, but it is optional to read as it is long.
The reason I wrote this is not for you to believe what I heard from social media or bible scholars. I may be doubtful myself. The reason is to encourage us to know the urgency of Jesus second coming, and to tell our family and friends about him.
This is something that the bible asked us to do. Paul said “You are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief… let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” (1 Thess 5:1-6). Jesus Himself gave us the actual signs of his coming in Matthew 24:3-8, and warn us to be ready with the Parable of Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13).
There are many signs that the tribulation is coming. Jesus said that before the end of the age, there will be "birth pangs", which includes wars, famine and earthquakes. We all know that these things are getting more frequent and more intense, just like birth pangs when the baby is about to be born.
However, they do not tell us when the tribulation is going to happen. However, if we can figure out when the season the rapture will happen, then we know the tribulation will come right after that. This is if we assume it will be a pre-tribulation rapture (which is another subject).
Recently, there are many social media commenting on the rapture, and when it will happen. There are many books and videos in the past that interpret the bible wrongly, making us wary of another interpretation.
However, the amount of congruent visions and biblical analysis pointing to similar dates are a lot more than before. I felt I have to check if the Word also supports this prophetic vision. (1Thess 5:20-21)
While we may not believe them, it motivates us to prepare our lives and to be ready to welcome the bridegroom.
There are 5 key indicators that the rapture of the church will happen within our life time and more precisely, within 2025-2028. These are based on theories and interpretation of symbolic representation of what the Bible says. As a Summary, the five are:
1) Creation Timeline - God created the universe in 6 days, and on the 7th day He rested. Scholars believe that the 6 days are 6000 years, and the 7 day is the 1000 years when we all "rested" under the rule of Jesus.
From studying the genealogy, scholars believe that Jesus came approximately 4000 years after Adam. The remaining 2000 years will end on 2031-2033, starting from Jesus crucifixion. If you remove the 7 year tribulation, you get 2024-2026. Therefore rapture will happen between now and 2026.
2) Independence of Israel - Jesus said that when the fig tree's (i.e Israel) branch is tender and put forth leaves, you know that the generation will not pass away until the tribulation happens (Matt 24:32-34). Meaning that when Israel is reborn again, some of the people alive during that time will not die before tribulation happens. Israel's independence was in 1948.
According to Psalm 90:10, it says our days may be 70 or 80 years old. If you add 70-80 years to 1948, you will get the year 2018 to 2028. In other words, rapture will happen between now and 2028.
3) Wedding of Jacob to Rachel - According to genealogies, Jacob marries Rachel at the age of 84. Jacob's name was changed to Israel. Scholars say that Jacob/Israel represents Jesus, and Rachel represents the Church.
This means that when the modern Israel becomes 84 years old, there will be a wedding between Jesus and the Church. This, according to Revelation, will happen at the end of the tribulation. When you add 84 to 1948, the result is 2032. Taking away the 7 year tribulation, the rapture will happen in 2025. In other words, we have less than 5 months left.
4) Visions and Dreams about Feast of Trumpets
Acts 2:17 says that in the last days, your sons and daughters (i.e. descendants) will prophesy and see visions and dream dreams.
There has been an increase in visions and dreams published in the social media this year. Most of them say they were told that the rapture will happen during this year Feast of Trumpets, which will be at sundown on September 23 and ends at nightfall on September 24.
Jesus said that no one knows the day and the hour the tribulation will start. However, I found out that the Feast of Trumpets are also referred to as "no one knows the day". This is because it depends on the sighting of the new moon. Since the new moon can appear anywhere from 29.5 to 30.5 days after the previous one, and its visibility depends on atmospheric conditions, the exact start of the feast day is unpredictable.
Some scholars said that Jesus may be referring to the Feast of Trumpets, but the exact day and hour is unknown. They say the year is also unknown until we "see the vision" and "understand" the biblical symbology.
5) The Seven Feasts & 2550 days
There are 7 annual feasts in Israel. When Jesus went into Jerusalem before he was crucified, he was present in the Passover (His death), Unleavened Bred (His burial), Firstfruits (his Resurrection), and Pentecost (He sends the Holy Spirit).
He missed the Feast of Trumpets, The Day of Atonement, and the Feast if Tabernacle. Some scholars believe the rapture will happen during the Feast of Trumpets, and when He returned 7 years later, it will be on the Day of Atonement.
One way to confirm this is to compare the number of days Jesus will return after the tribulation, to the number of days between the 2025 Feast of Trumpets and the 2032 Day of Atonement.
They calculated that this gap will be 2550 days. They say this is a rare occurrence as there will never be another 2550 days gap going forward.
According to Daniel 9:27 and Daniel 12:11, Jesus will come back in 2550 days after the start of tribulation. Is this a coincidence?
------
You can check the details of the calculations and bible reference below, if you want to know more.
I hope you have an urgency to tell the gospel to your family and friends about Christ. Tell them Jesus will call us back to him anytime soon. Even if they don't believe you now, when they see that millions of Christians have disappeared, they may be convinced and accept the Lord.
The tribulation is not just for suffering, but it is a second and final chance for them to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
B. Details of the 5 Indicators
1) Creation Timeline As A Pattern
As we all know, the creation took 6 days, and on the 7th day, God rested. (Gen 2:2-3) Scholars believes that this represents how long the age of earth is. Based on 2 Peter 3:8: "...With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day", it means that the earth will no longer exist after 7000 years.
According to analysis of Genealogy of people in the bible, scholars have calculated the Jesus was born around 4000 years after the creation. There are many complex timeline charts that proves this, but I chose this one as it is simpler to explain:
After Jesus second return in the earth year of 6000, he will win the battle with the antichrist, and cast Satan into a bottomless pit (Rev 20:1-3). After that, Jesus will rule the earth for 1000 years (not shown in the diagram). This period represents the rest-year of the creation, when all living creatures will have peace and joy under Jesus' leadership.
How do we know when Jesus will return? People think the 2000 years begins after Jesus' crucifixion/resurrection. Jesus' crucifixion is estimated to be 31-33 AD. If so, 31-33 AD + 2000 years will be 2031 to 2033 AD, when Jesus will come a second time.
If we believe the rapture will happen at the beginning of the tribulation, then taking 7 years away from 2031-2033 will be 2024-2026. Since 2024 is over, we are left with half of 2025 till 2026 for the rapture..
There is also a prophecy that support above. Hosea 6:1-2 says: “Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence."
Hosea lived and prophesied during the 8th century B.C., over 700 years before Jesus was born. His prophecy says that the Lord has ignored Israel for two days, but he will come back on the third day to heal and bind up their wounds.
In other words, Jesus has left Israel alone after they rejected Him and had Him crucified. However, He will come back after 2 days, and He will "heal and bandage up their wounds" which they have suffered from the tribulation. Again, 2 days is equivalent to 2000 years. The 3rd day is the 1000 years of rest.
This theory is also known as Millennium Theory. Based on this theory, the rapture can happen anytime now until 2026.
2) The Independence of Israel
The nation of Israel were destroyed by the Romans in 70AD, when they burned down the second temple and dispersed the Jews to the different nations under the Romans' rule. However, after World War II, the United Nations gave the Jews a portion of their original land. In 1948, Israel declared independence and were reborn as a nation again.
This is the fulfilment of OT prophecies:
Isaiah 66:8 - "Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment?" We should also be amazed that a nation that disappeared for 1878 years can be reborn again!
Amos 9:14–15 - “I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them... I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted.” This prophecy said that Israel will never be uprooted or be conquered again. God will protect the modern day Israel. We have seen this multiple times. The Arab nations have band together to attack Israel since the independence and failed every time. In fact, the more they attack, the more land Israel conquered. (See my blog Re-birth of Israel.)
Jesus Himself said: “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” (Matt 24:32-34)
The fig tree represents Israel. Jesus was saying that when Israel is born again ("puts forth leaves"), the generation that saw the independence of Israel will not die until they see the tribulation happens.
Based on Psalm 90:10, which says that "our days may come to seventy years, or eighty...", if you add 70 or 80 years to 1948, you'll get 2018 to 2028. Based on this, the tribulation will start between now and 2028. This is also the time range of the rapture, since it happens just before the tribulation.
3) The Wedding of Jacob and Rachel
Jacob was renamed to "Israel" by the man (very likely the pre-incarnate Christ) he wrestled with in Genesis 32:28. His descendants are the Israelites and lived in the land of ancient Israel.
Symbolically. the age of Jacob (Israel) represents the age of modern Israel nation from the year of it's re-birth (i.e. their independence). Also, Jacob's marriage to Rachel symbolize the marriage of Jesus to the Church in heaven.
Jacob told Rachel's father, Laban, that he will work 7 years in order to marry Rachel. After the 7 years, Jacob married Rachel. According to scholars (and ChatGPT) Jacob wed Rachel when he was 84 years old.
If you add 84 years to the independence of Israel in 1948, you get the year 2032. Therefore the marriage of Jesus to the Church happens in 2032, which is at the end of the tribulation, just before Christ second-coming. (Rev 19:6-10)
However, Jacob had to wait 7 years before his marriage, exactly the same number of years for the tribulation. If you minus 7 from 2032, you get 2025 when the rapture happen.
4) Visions, Dreams and Feast Of Trumpets
As we are near to the end times, visions and dreams will be given to the believers. This is based on Acts 2:17 - “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” Peter is quoting from Joel 2:28.
In recent months, I have seen many videos in TikTok and Facebook where people have seen visions or dreams about the rapture. A majority of them said they were "told" it will happen this year. I won't list them here as I don't want to endorse them. You can google them yourself.
I asked ChatGPT - "Are there more visions and dreams about the Rapture in 2025 than any previous years?" It's reply was:
"Yes, there appears to be a noticeable surge in visions, dreams, and prophetic interpretations about the Rapture in 2025 compared to previous years. This increase is reflected in several online articles, videos, and discussions that highlight 2025 as a potentially significant year for eschatological events. Videos and testimonies have surfaced claiming divine visions that point to the Feast of Trumpets in 2025 as a possible time for the Rapture."
Rather than discussing their visions/dreams, what I want to talk about is the Feast Of Trumpets (Yom Teruah). It is mentioned in Leviticus 23:23–25; Numbers 29:1–6.
It begins with the “Ten Days of Awe” leading to Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), a time of introspection and seeking forgiveness. The central feature is blowing of the ram’s horn (shofar) to awaken the soul and call to repentance. The shofar was also used during wars between ancient Israel and other nations, as a trumpet to rally each other and for God to save them (Numbers 10:9-10). (Examples of Shofar in war - Joshua 6:4-20: Battle of Jericho; Joshua 7:20-22: Battle with the Midianites).
Many scholars say that the shofar is the trumpet mentioned by Paul in 1 Thess 4:16 and 1 Cor 15:52, when the church is raptured. If this is true, it means we will know when the rapture will happen. Most people object to this, since Jesus said “but about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son.." (Matthew 24:36)
Do you know that the Feast of Trumpets is traditionally associated with the phrase “no one knows the day”? This is because the first day of the Hebrew month of Tishri depends on the sighting of the new moon. Since the new moon can appear anywhere from 29.5 to 30.5 days after the previous one, and its visibility depends on atmospheric conditions, the exact start of the feast unpredictable.
Many scholars and teachers believe that what Jesus said was a Hebrew idiom referring to the Feast of Trumpets. Because of the uncertainty of the 1st day of the Feast, no one knows the exact day or hour the feast will be. According to this theory, we may not know the "day" or "hour", but we do know the period or the feast that the rapture will happen.
If this is true, then we can predict that the rapture will fall during the Feast of Trumpets in any year. However, combined with the visions and dreams that are occurring, and the other indicators above, it's likely to be this year or next year. The Feast of Trumpets in 2025 begins at sundown on September 23 and ends at nightfall on September 24.
5) The Seven Feasts & 2550 days
The Seven Feasts is a mirror of what Jesus will do in his first coming and his second coming. During His first coming, he was present in 4 out of 7 feasts, when he went into Jerusalem as a sacrifice.
a) Passover - He was crucified as the Lamb of God. He sacrificed himself for our sin.
b) Unleavened Bread - Leaven represents sin. His sinless body (unleavened bread) was buried in the tomb.
c) Firstfruits - His resurrection. Paul also refers to Him in 1 Corinthians 15:20 as the "first fruits from the dead."
d) Pentecost - His Holy Spirit came into the disciples and believers. This is the birth of the Church.
He still have 3 festivals to attend:
e) The Feast of Trumpets - Scholars believe that He will lift up His church to heaven (rapture). However, we need to have evidence to show which year of the Feast will the rapture happen.
f) The Atonement - Atonement refers to the act of reconciling by making amends for sins. In the past they made sin offering during the feast. Jesus and the Israelites will reconcile after the tribulation. No sacrifice will be needed, for Jesus was their sacrifice. Scholars believe he will celebrate the first Atonement Day after tribulation. “They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child…” Zech 12:10
g) The Feast of Tabernacles - This represents Jesus reign on earth for 1000 years after the tribulation. "Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles." (Zech 14:16)
For the evidence that rapture will happen in the 2025 Feast of Trumpets, we need know how many days between The Feast of the Trumpets in 2025 and the Atonement Day in 2032 (7 years later, due to the tribulation.) According to ChatGPT, the Feast of Trumpets in 2025 falls on evening Sept 23 to Sep 24. The Day of Atonement in 2032 falls on evening of Sept 14 to Sep 15.
From September 23, 2025 to September 15, 2032 is 2,550 days. This number of days is exactly what Daniel predicted:
Daniel 9:27 says the anti-Christ will make a covenant with Israel at the beginning of the tribulation, but in the middle of the tribulation, he will put and end to sacrifice and set up abomination in the temple. This happens in 3.5 years of the tribulation, which 1260 days (using prophetic calendar that each month is 30 days.)
Daniel 12:11 says: “From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days." This is the second half of the tribulation. It includes 30 days extension that is probably due to transition to Kingdom of Christ and judgment of Satan and anti-Christ.
1260 days + 1290 days = 2550 days. It is exactly the same the number of days between Feast of Trumpets in 2025 to Day of Atonement in 2032 after the 7 year tribulation. Is this a coincident, or a sign?
It is also unique as this gap of 2550 days is extremely rare. According to what I hear, it only happens 6 times since the independence of Israel in 1948, and there no matches before the independence day nor any other matches after 2025. (Note: I did not do the calculation for the this, so I can't vouch for the accuracy)
C. Conclusion
Based on the above, the rapture seems to fall between now and 2028. However, most of the bible symbols and believer's visions seem to say the rapture will happen in September 2025 till September/October 2026, during the Feast of Trumpets.
The Lord wants us to see the sign of His return. Paul said “You are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief… let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” Paul urges believers to stay alert and spiritually awake." (1 Thess 5:1-6). Jesus Himself gave us the actual signs in Matthew 24:3-8, and warn us to be ready with the Parable of Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13).
Though we may not be convinced it will happen this year or next year, we should not be blind as the Sadducees, who completely did not expect the Messiah's first coming, even though they have the Torah that gave them the signs. They end up rejecting and killing Jesus. Jesus said to them: “You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.” (Matt 16:2-3)
